Healthy Snacks the Grandkids Will Actually Love

Simple ideas from Grandma and Grandpa’s kitchen

Looking for a way to treat the grandkids without the sugar crash? These easy, healthy snack ideas are perfect for hot afternoons, movie nights, or just a fun surprise when they visit. The best part? They’re tasty enough that the kids won’t even miss the junk food.

1. Fruit Kabobs
Let them help stack chunks of strawberries, grapes, melon, and blueberries onto wooden skewers. Add a small bowl of vanilla yogurt for dipping.

2. Ants on a Log
A classic for a reason! Spread peanut butter or cream cheese on celery sticks and top with raisins (or mini chocolate chips if you’re feeling generous).

3. Frozen Banana Bites
Slice bananas, dip in a little melted dark chocolate, and freeze. You can roll them in crushed nuts or granola before freezing for an extra crunch.

4. Homemade Trail Mix
Mix Cheerios, pretzels, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and a few M&Ms. Let the kids scoop their own mix into snack bags to take home.

5. Apple “Donuts”
Slice apples crosswise, cut out the center, and spread with nut butter or yogurt. Let the kids decorate with granola, coconut, or a few sprinkles.

Healthy can still be fun. And the best part of these snacks? You get to share them, too.
